Exhibition: Perth at the Outbreak of World War I @ Spearwood Library

Perth at the Outbreak of World War I exhibition is currently at Spearwood Library, running until the 18 June.

Did you know:

• During WW1 10% of Perth’s population (87,000 people) were away at the front line?
• A 5 room house in a ‘desirable’ area of Perth cost around £550 in 1914?
• In WW1 Rottnest Island was an internment camp for ‘enemy aliens’?

These snippets of Perth life are part of a travelling exhibition, Perth at the Outbreak of War.

Read about the history of Perth and how we lived, prepared, played, worked, and cared in the lead up to WWI and WWII, and view photographs of Perth during this time. This exhibition is particularly fitting as we commemorate the Centenary of WWI.
