| Summary: |
The State Housing Commission developments at Hamilton Hill in the late 1950s and early 1960s brought large numbers of new suburban residents into Cockburn. By 1966 there were enough people living in the Hamilton Hill area to warrant opening a bank branch in a newly-built shopfront at the back of the Hamilton Hill Memorial Hall. This was the first bank to open a branch anywhere in the Cockburn district. |
